At least when it comes to Planelopnik. Just read his bio and he had an amazing flying career. He flew CAS in the AT-28 during Vietnam, was part of the first operational A-10 squadron, flew on the first A-10 demonstration team and flew the SR-71 Blackbird. He has also flown extensively as a guest with the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angels while researching books on those demonstration groups. So to sum this up, Brian Shul has flown Oppo's two favorite airplanes and spent extensive time as a passenger with both the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angels.

Brian Shul is the author of Sled Driver which everyone says is THE book to have about the Blackbird. Amazon tells me I can have it for between $400 and $4,000, so I won't be reading it any time soon.
Here is a video on the SR-71.
And another on the A-10

When learning to fly a sailplane, you begin by learning to fly in formation with a tow plane (that's how I began). The tug somewhat pulls you into position, but not really, because the glider reacts to turbulence differently. Flying in position behind the tug can be tough. Circling with a small gaggle is easier... but I've only done that once. Gliding is a precision sport.

Shul has a website. I wonder if he could be convinced to put out a digital addition of the book for a reasonable amount? There seems to be a lot of interest.
By the way, I might have a copy on PDF.
